Well I looked a bit on the internet on Alpha Force by Chris Ryan, if that is the one that you are talking about. It seems as an interesting enough story that would be worth checking out. I will have to finish reading Dune, to free up some reading time.
As far as Sam Raimi, I enjoyed the Rush Hour movies, and really thought he did well with the Spider-Man movies. Although as a comic book geek, no movie can live up to the comics. But X-Men did about the best so far, with Spider-Man 2 at a close second. I am looking forward to Spider-Man 3, although this revelation of Eddie Brock's role, is got me quite nervous.
