Comic Book Geeks 101

Back To My One True Love
Back to Full Blog

Comics have always fascinated me from the day that I bought my first four comic books on the magazine rack of a convenience store, in my hometown of St.Louis Missouri.

X-Men #41                                                   Astonishing X-Men #1

X-Men 2099 #17                                    Spider-Man 2099 #29

This is what started me on reading comic books.  Although I had always wanted to collect comics, my mother being the protective mother that she was, never allowed them until I was much older.  Otherwise I would have been reading comics from the day I first saw Superfriends on television for the first time.

With this being the future of my web logging, I will attempt to gather information together and give you all the synopsis for these, the first four comic books and I ever owned.  Following that I want to share with you the Spider-Man story that was in the first comic book that I ever read.

Give me some time and I will get back started with posts that were the reason I came here to blogstream.

Take care all.

May U Live 2 See The Dawn

I know where your coming from Adam I remember going to the drug store with my Grandmother and getting her to buy me a comic book. Today one of my pride and joys is a copy of the Hulk where he is fighting the Wendgo and in the last frame of the comic they introduce a new character. He was wearing a really cheesy yellow and black outfit going by the name of wolverine. I wish I could say it was in mint condition, but no such luck I would always red mine I don't know 10 or 12 times before I got tired of them. It is buy no means in ratty shape but as I call it well read. I'm sure it would still get a nice price if I could ever bear to get rid of it.

Jonsey, your comment leads me to believe that you own a copy of Incredible Hulk #180. Hmmm, that kinda makes me jealous. 8-) I have only read that issue in reprints and TPB, never have been able to put down the $250 plus dollars for a NM copy of it. Although from your description yours could be worth anything from $17-118 from GD to VF, or $180 for a VF/NM even. You got a real gem of a comic there Jonesy. And what memories of buying it in a drugstrore right off the shelf. Most of the key issues that I have aquired of some of my favorite books, I have bought in the back issue bins of comic book shops.

Yeah I didn't recall the number of the comic. I'd have to return to my "secret lair" where I keep all my valuables to get that info. :)

Well when you said that he appears in the last panel of the book, I figured it was #180, as #181 is the titanic battle between Wolverine and Hulk, that has made that issue so popular.
